Midweek and Black Booker updates

Today is the running of the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket over 1400m under handicap conditions which sees one of our stable stars the in form Ashikaga face one time Black Booker in Musket. The race doesnt end there with other possible Doncaster Handicap entries Chasm and Solo Flyer needing a win to boost there claims of entry into the elite mile field later in the Autumn.

In Melbourne at Sandown (Lakeside) the Bart Cummings trained IndirectElusive Quality x Blessed Be) 3yo f 6-1-0-1 looks set to break back into the winners list in race 4, the 0-72 3yo fillies Desirable Hcp over 1400m.

The smart performer Costa In The Glen (Encosta De Lago x Bratenahl) 4yo g 4-3-1-0 is second up over 1200m in race 5 the 0-82 Ratings Hcp and if the pace is on he looks to have more scope than the opposition.

In Perth the enigmatic ex Sydney galloper Amianan(Belong To Me x High Heels) 7yo g 33-8-3-2 has had a short 35 day let up since a very enouraging unplaced effort and has his hoof on the till in the R1MW Homestyle Salad Makers hcp over 1400m. He has an ugly record at the Ascot track being placed only once in eight attempts, however his record over the distance of 11-3-1-2 indicates the potential to improve. Certainly one at odds to consider.

Black Booker update Causeyacan

Black Booker update
Causeyacan (Giant's Causeway x C'yaontheotherside) 5yo g 11-6-1-0 Trained by Kevin Moses and to be ridden today by leading local rider Glen Colless in the $250,000 Marriot Magic Millions Stayers Cup over 1800m at the Gold Coast.

This 1800m contest with the steadier of 57kg will provide a decent guide as to Causeyacan's his immediate and long term future. It will define if its worth a shot at races over more ground and will confirm if he can carry weight in a pressure contest of a full field of fourteen fighting it out for a $1/4 million dollars in stakes. These factors will determine if Causeyacan remains a Black Booker.

A victim of circumstances in the Group 2 Villiers Handicap over 1600m when finally in the clear, wound up late to be beaten only 1/2 length on the line. Does rise 4.5 kg today which is never ideal, however given the restricted nature of the field Causeyacan looks to have a class edge and around the $2.80 looks fair value.

The possibilities of 2009 are endless

With so much doom and gloom surrounding the world with the financial markets there is so much to look forward with racing in 2009.

Will the administrators finally get their act together and push for a national programme and a huge reduction in tote and state government takeouts? Racing is the most over taxed industry in the world and any increase will see the desertion of the customer leave to other less taxed forms of gaming and entertainment.

With modern technology the old model or relying on government handouts to fund the industry should be buried for good. For without a self funding business model the industry is in dire straights. How can this be achieved? By dropping the tax on wagering by at least 50% on the current levels of 16-21%. This will see an automatic increase of up to 30% in pool sizes. With larger pools, comes larger players greater consumer confidence and larger revenues to all industry participants, including the owner, trainer, stable hands, jockey, punters, bookmakers, totes and dare I say even the Government. This is one time "Where Less is More". Now only if they can adopt that principal to the race programming as well.

The stigma attached to horse racing must also be addressed at a ground roots level to accommodate the next 2020 generation, after all they are the future. The public perception is Its 'ok to bet on the football, Play high stakes Poker, buy a lottery ticket but if you bet on the horses its corrupt. This is a sad legacy of the past and if the Industry is to move forward must be tackled head on to alleviate and dis spell that age old myth.

On a sour note after only three days of publication, Hi IQ Sports has been made aware the case study "Betting on Debut" has already been plagiarized by other blogs and websites as well as hearing first hand, one well known T.V.N . commentator adept these selections as his own. Case Study -Betting on Debut by Hi IQ Sports

Case Study: Betting On Debut
by Hi IQ Sports
Backing a winner is never easy at the best of times so in the exclusive live case study Hi IQ Sports will dispose of a few myths, put its reputation on the line and provide selections based purely on the basis that the horse is on debut.

Statistically speaking this is the worst time to bet as the "Runners to Winners Ratio" is of the lowest proportion. Which makes sense if you think about it, for every Debut winner there are hundreds of losing ones.

What creates the opportunity is the statistical illusion and the fact some runners are simply over bet or overlooked on debut.

So how do we go about sorting the wheat from the chaff? There is no science or luck if you are following the money and watching the market but that doesn't necessarily equate to longterm success.

However the science in correctly identifying key elements of a debut runner via the trainer, jockey, sire, dam, breeding, sales price, track work, track conditions, race distance, race type and trials can often provide a more definitive and insightful lead.

The case study for Betting On Debut will last for a year or 200 selections whichever comes first.
Only one rule and that is the Horse must be on Debut.

Hi IQ Sports will provide an ongoing breakdown of selections, statistics and tables which will consist of Date, Track, Distance, Name, Sire, Dam, Dam Sire, Sale Details, Win, Place, Each Way, Exotics plus many more, in total over 40 individual markers.

With these key elements and superior analytical skills Hi IQ Sports will prove that Betting On Debut can be a rewarding exercise.
